The INCCAR intensive programme is a 2 weeks training course in complementary health care practice. The programme focuses on procedures which are not included in the regular curiculum but which represent an offer of complementary health care in certain diseases or population groups. Apart from practical exercise theoretical background, philosophical, ethical, psychological and sociological aspects of complementary and alternative health care will be provided in order to explain the phenomenon in a broad context and with relation to evidence based medicine and nursing. An international group of participants consists of nursing or medicine students, students of physiotherapy, occupational therapy, podiatry, midwifery etc.

The intensive programme aims at providing the students with a reliable information and training in selected health care procedures which are not usually taught at medical faculties or nursing schools (e.g. Traditional chinese massage, shiatsu, music therapy, aromatherapy, hippotherapy, acupressure, drama etc.).The programme focuses also on organisational aspects of a health care system and on potential development of cooperation between the public and private sector, which is a new European priority. Students are expected to read one selected article on the topic from the recommended literature or from own resources and refer about it. Students also write their final reports within the period of one months since the end of the programme. Students from the same country prepare and present their national country presentation on how the complementary health care is perceived in their country and what problems may occur.
