Annotation

Review of principles, risk factors, clinical and therapeutic aspects of ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes. Cerebrovascular disease in its chronic course will be also presented as well as imaging and investigational methods.

Aim of the course

The aim is to enhance knowledge in cerebrovascular disease beyond normal general curriculum. More details of principals in auxiliary methods will be explained.

Syllabus

Deepening of the general knowledge about the impact of atherosclerosis on cerebral circulation. Topics of the ischaemic cerebral damage will include diagnostic aspects (imaging by CT, MRI, ultrasound), principles of stroke and vascular dementia, principles of aphasia and its diagnostics, as well as risk factors and epide-miology - in a total extent of 4 sessions/examinations/semi-nars. Topics of hemorrhagic cerebral events will include intracerebral as well as extracerebral spontannous bleeding - in a total of 2 sessions.

Entry requirements

Students of the 3rd and 4th year of the Magister study.

Both foreign and Czech students are acceptable.
