El curso estará centrado en el estudio de obras y dramaturgos pertenecientes al teatro contemporáneo español que comienza a finales del s. XIX y continúa a lo largo del siglo XX hasta llegar básicamente a nuestros días. Durante las clases nos dedicaremos al análisis de las obras más representativas de este período y junto a los comentarios de texto realizados en clase nos fijaremos también en el contexto cultural y social que sirvió a los escritores de inspiración para escribir sus dramas.
El estudio de autores y sus piezas teatrales será además cronológico, para que los almumnos obtengan una visión completa y organizada sobre el teatro español perteneciente a dicho período. La finalidad del curso será enseňar a los alumnos las nuevas técnicas teatrales del S. XX. y su continuidad en relación con el teatro clásico espaňol. Se hablará también sobre los autores más importantes de este periodo y los movimientos literarios nuevos, especialmente el modernismo y el vanguardismo. The course will be centred on the study of plays and playwrights belonging to the Spanish contemporary theater that begins in the late nineteenth century and continues throughout the twentieth century until basically reaching our days. During the classes we will focus on the analysis of the most representative plays of this period and together with the text comments made in class we will also look at the cultural and social context that inspired the writers to compose their dramas. The study of authors and their plays will also be chronological, so that the students will obtain a complete and organized vision of the Spanish theater belonging to this period. The purpose of the course will be to teach students the new theatrical techniques of the twentieth century and their continuity in relation to the classical Spanish theater.
