Aim of the course -

Aim of the course: Students will become acquainted with a number of current practical recommendations regarding the design and implementation of experimental studies in psychology. Students will also practice the necessary elements of psychological experimentation.

Learning outcomes and competences: Students can describe the basic characteristics of the experimental approach, its difference from the correlation or observative methodology, its advantages and limitations, they can explain the differences between between- and within-subject designs and give examples of their application, they know the statistical methods appropriate to the given research situations, they are acquainted with ethical requirements for research and understand the issues of internal, external and ecological validity of experimental studies both in the laboratory and in the field, understands the limits and advantages of metastudies and replication studies.

Learning outcomes and competences: Students are able to analyze and propose his / her own study according to the QALMRI methodology, can design suitable experiments for a given question or problem, can plan the study, pre-register and conduct it and evaluate its results with respect to their reliability and generalizability, they know how to prepare informed consent according to the ethical standards, and they can write the outputs of the study in a suitable form.
