Exchange - 09.2 General and Comparative Literature
Annotation
During the winter semester, the Institute of Ethnology and Central European and Balkan Studies
will host prof. Ag Apolloni from University of Pristina. The Kosovar scholar and renowned author
focuses on the relationship between small and big literatures, on the “Weltliteratur“, and on
Albanian literature in Balkan and world context.
During this course, we will discuss and analyze the following authors: Homer, William
Shakespeare, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Heinrich Heine, Joseph Conrad, T. S. Eliot,
Constantine Cavafy, Nikos Kazantzakis, Jaroslav Hašek, Karel Čapek, Milan Kundera, Josef
Škvorecký, Drago Jančar, Andrej Nikolaidis, Nikos Chrysos, Orhan Pamuk, Danilo Kish, Attila Josef,
Nikolai Gogol, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Leo Tolstoy, Anton Chekhov, Thomas Mann, Hermann Hesse,
Margareth Atwood, Alice Munro, Virginia Woolf, Simone de Beauvoir, Philip Roth, Julian Barnes,
Michel Houellebecq and many more.
