Philosophy of mind cannot be successfully cultivated without familiarity with current cognitive science, but neither can empirical research on the mind be successfully conducted without first clarifying the concepts and schemata we use in examining cognitive processes. The interface of our course is precisely the intersection and the differences between the phenomenological revision of the Cartesian conception of mind and the latest currents of cognitive science, which disrupts the earlier paradigm. 4E Cognition does not identify the mind only with brain processes, but describes the mind as embodied, enacted, and embedded in the environment in which our thinking, perceiving, reasoning, or emotionality takes place. <br>
