Annotation -
The written work in the language should demonstrate the student's ability to work with specialist literature and language material.
The work is continuously consulted with the teacher. The student is responsible for its formal and linguistic level.
The thesis is approximately 12 pages long. Emphasis is placed on working carefully with the analysed documents and working with language corpora in order to reflect authentic linguistic conventions. This thesis is a preparation for the master´s thesis. It is written in German. It is recommended that the topic of the thesis be chosen so that it can become a starting point for the subsequent writing of the master´s thesis. It may be a treatment of a partial problem, a selected phenomenon, a synthesis of selected secondary literature, etc., so that these outputs can be subsequently applied in the writing of the final thesis.

The thesis must have the following components:
a. Introduction and exposition of the problem.
b. A view of the phenomenon under study in the secondary literature.
c. Analytical part.
d. Synthetic part.
e. Summary.
f. Bibliography.

As an alternative form of written work in didactics, students in the Teacher Studies programme (Teaching German Language and Literature) may prepare materials for their professional portfolio (in Mahara), so that each of the predefined five parts of the portfolio contains at least two entries.
