The course follows on from the theoretical and practical course Basis of Patient Care I, II. The holiday practice lasts 2 weeks (80 hours) in an internal or surgical inpatient ward of the hospital. Students perform individual basic nursing procedures listed in the Record of Completed Practices in the hospital under the supervision of mentors.

Learning goals of the subject:
Students apply the theoretical knowledge needed to perform basic and specialized nursing interventions and procedures.
Students are able to perform selected nursing activities and procedures in hospital independently under the supervision of a mentor.
Students are able to maintain aseptic approaches during nursing procedures in hospital under the supervision of a mentor.
Students learn the principles of an individualized and holistic approach to patients.
Student practice communication skills with patients.

Submission of a completed Record of Completed Practices where:
The completed 2-weeks holiday practice (total of 80 hours) is recorded and confirmed.
Nursing procedures listed in the Record of Completed Practices are sign in accordance with the instructions given in the Moodle course.
