The aim of the course is to acquaint students with basic dental materials - cements, composite materials, dental ceramics, alloys, auxiliary materials and imprinting materials, including materials for 3D printing - their composition, preparation and use in practice. Students first try to prepare the material in the laboratory to know how important it is to observe the time, the ratio of components, etc. This is followed by a series of practices in the phantom laboratory, where the student must master the placement of rubber dam, the preparation of cavities and their filling with various materials and imprinting. This is followed by a practice focused on digital processes in the production of a model (digital processing, 3D printing with subsequent modification of the printed model. Learning outcomes: 1. the student acquires a basic idea of dental materials, 2. the student acquires practical skills while working on models in a phantom laboratory, 3. the student will be able to - mix different types of materials used in the dental office, - put on kofferdam, - make composite fillings III. AND IV. Class and GIC filler class II, - imprint the upper and lower jaw, - to produce a working model using a digital process.
Requirements to the exam

Credit:

a) Attendance at classes

One excused absence in practical classes is tolerated (the apology documented by valid medical certificate or official document must be delivered to the teacher within 48 hours of the uncompleted practical exercise).

b) Laboratory classes

Laboratory classes will be recognized after all the operations specified in the syllabus of the laboratory classes have been performed. In the case of absence, substitute tests must be completed no later than by the end of the semester and the date must be settled with the teacher.

c) Test results

Satisfactory results of  the test (at least 80 % of total points count of all running tests).

d) Credit test

Satisfactory result (at least 67 % of correct answers).

In case of failing result in credit test, the examination will be oral. In the case of a higher number of insufficiently excused absences, the credit will not be granted at all.
