The aim of the course is to communicate a basic overview of the philosophical schools with a connection or historical influence on the nursing ethics, with special emphasis on philosophy of the end of the 20th century and the philosophy today. The ambition is to teach students to understand the theoretical foundations of modern medical ethics. |

In lectures, students will be provided with the necessary sum of theoretical knowledge to be able to build their own rational argumentation; the basic philosophical themes relating to medical ethics (life, death, pain, freedom) will be discussed. The seminars develop further topics treated in lectures, the way of ethical and philosophical thinking will be presented on the major Czech thinkers (Comenius, Masaryk, Patocka). Students will learn the art of dialogue and penetrate the problem of philosophy as a "radical questioning". |
