Přednáška zahrnuje kapitoly týkající se vývoje a historických souvislostí správy prostorových dat, metod analýzy prostorových dat, datových konverzí, digitalizace mapových podkladů, tvorby výstupních sestav a vizualizace.

The elective lecture is focused on geographic information systems (GIS) and their use in solving environmental issues in the broader framework of natural sciences. The lecture includes chapters on the development and historical context of spatial data management, methods of spatial data analysis, data conversions, digitization of map documents, creation of output reports and visualization. Circuits focused on processing data obtained from GPS, DPZ and CAD are also included. For natural science students, it is an extension course that can be followed by other thematically focused elective lectures, exercises and seminars. Although the presentation of selected tasks does not require in-depth knowledge of GIS, basic experience is welcome but not required. The presentation of individual approaches to data processing is based on methodological materials of ESRI (Environmental Systems Research Institute) and professional foreign literature. The subject is also available in the MOODLE system.

The subject MO550P77 GIS application is taught face-to-face or, in justified cases, by distance learning. Presentation of lectures and assignment of demo tasks is available on MOODLE: https://dl2.cuni.cz/course/view.php?id=1686 in pdf format.
To be awarded credit, demo tasks must be completed and, in case of absence from the exercise, the required results must be submitted for review in MOODLE by the end of the grading period. The task is completed when more than 50 points are obtained in the range of 0 to 100. The recommended submission deadline is the next exercise.
