Outcomes (knowledge and clinical skills): Knowledge of the basics of clinical cardiology and pulmonology. Knowledge of clinical examination of the patient, differential diagnosis and choice of therapeutic procedures in cardiology and pulmonology. Ability to perform basic emergency resuscitation using an automated defibrillator. |

Conditions for credit: Self-study Students will prepare for selected seminars by self-study. Continuous knowledge check in the form of tests in Moodle Before the selected seminars, students will complete a self-study knowledge check in the form of tests in Moodle. Participation in seminars and practical exercises A maximum of two excused absences are allowed; excuses must be sent only in advance on the excuse form to the secretariat of the Department of Internal Medicine. In case of a higher number of absences, the situation will be resolved individually with the Head of the Department of Internal Medicine. Knowledge test in Moodle Aimed at knowledge of cardiology and pulmonology within the scope of the state examination questions. Required pass rate ≥ 70%, students may receive a 10% bonus for successfully completing the tests prior to the seminars. |

Seminars in groups: Seminars introduce students to the basics of cardiology and pneumology through the presentation of model cases.
Practical exercises Students completing 11 practical exercises focusing on the following topics: Cardiology (7 practicals): Practicals in cardiology are held at the workplaces of the I. Internal Cardiology Clinic. During the practicum, students will be demonstrated model cases of the most common diagnoses: Ischemic heart disease, arrhythmias, heart failure, thromboembolic disease, ischemic disease of the lower extremities. Pneumology (3 practicals): Practicums in pneumology are conducted in the departments of the pulmonary clinic. During the practicum students learn about the most common diseases of the respiratory tract, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures on typical cases. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (1 practicum): The cardiopulmonary resuscitation practicum focuses on practical training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
