The subject "General Pharmaceutical Chemistry" introduces the field of synthetic pharmaceuticals. Within this subject, basic principles of physicochemical evaluation of drugs are explained, including possibilities of influencing these properties and their consequences for the movement of the drug in the organism. In addition, the effects of isomerism on the effect of drugs are emphasized, the basic principles of the production and use of prodrugs and the importance and use of biotransformation in pharmaceuticals are explained. Within this subject general parts focused on the basic historical milestones in drug development and principles of drug nomenclature are also included.
