The course aims to familiarise students with the attempt to transform the internal system in the Eastern Bloc. It will
show the original stimulus, that led the Soviet leadership to this experiment. It will also show different ways of
adopting the Soviet model in other socialist countries and explain the reasons that led to a different adoption. The
course will also clarify political and economic specifics of the Eastern Bloc countries in the late eighties.
