The goal of this course is to introduce students to the following topics: the current definitions of human rights, controversies over different generations of human rights, the history of human rights from ancient Greece up to contemporary philosophical and political science definitions, differences between natural and human rights, disputes with moral relativism, moral vs. legal rights, claim rights and liberty rights, scope and justification of human rights, HR as the dominant geopolitical doctrine of modern times, HR in international law and HR within the UN.

Cílem kurzu je seznámit studující s následující problematikou: současné definice lidských práv, diskuze jednotlivých generaci lidských práv, dějiny lidských práv od antického Řecka až po současné filozofické a politologické definice, distinkce přirozená a lidská práva, spory a morálním relativizmem, morální vs. legální práva, práva nárokovat si a práva tykající se svobody, rozsah a ospravedlnění LP, LP jako dominantní geopolitická doktrína současnosti, LP v mezinárodním právu a LP v rámci OSN.
