This course is intended for students with a good knowledge of English (B2) and who have an interest in English literature. We will work with texts by contemporary authors to extend our understanding of English, particularly different registers of the language. We will also work on various tricky aspects of English grammar, including verb tenses, speech and reported speech, collocations, relative clauses and phrasal verbs. We will learn how to express concepts useful in academia such as how to state your opinion, how to state purpose, draw conclusions, etc. There will be a lot of emphasis on spoken English and students will be expected to participate actively in conversations and discussions.
