The Advanced English course will be based on the material in the Navigate C1 textbook focusing on practical use of English skills such as grammatical proficiency, vocabulary development, reading skills and developing listening skills. There will also be class discussions on current topics. Additional material on grammar and vocabulary will be provided and authentic articles and short stories will be used to develop vocabulary and reading comprehension as well as to provide topics for discussion.

THe course textbook is Bartram and Pickering, Navigate C1 (OUP)

I use the digital teacher's edition of the textbook instead of powerpoint presentations.

I will try to make a pdf of the relevant portion of the textbook available for each class.

Additional authentic materials will be supplied through the course moodle.

All students must use the course moodle for the submission of homework and assignments.

The course is designed for students at upper-intermediate/advanced level. The students are expected to thoroughly prepare for each lesson and to be proactive, i.e. to be able to identify their difficulties and work on them without being explicitly asked. A responsible and systematic approach is a must.
