Annotation -
Public administration (PA) represents one of important pillars of contemporary society. The fundamental task of PA is the setting of principles, plans, rules, procedures and instruments used for solving various problems of individuals, social groups and of the state-wide plans. PA pursues public policy developed and is promoted by governing subjects. The course introduces basic theoretical knowledge on public policy implemented through PA and concretized for Czech space. Sport as important phenomenon of contemporary times has become the topic of public interest, and so of public policy too. Sport is explained in its broad (European) understanding starting from active leisure time forms to its socioeconomic meaning. Respecting these facts, students learn about the support and provision of sport within the PA in the Czech Republic, become familiar with basic legislative and political documents, current situation, stressing the cooperation of PA with third sector sport organizations. Social groups requiring increased attention in sport promotion will be discussed. The broad concept of sport is also linked to its potential as a tool of regional development from the local to the global levels. Theoretical outcomes of regional development will enable to explain the role of sport in this area with emphasis on sport tourism. Discussion of important documents on sustainable development will show the possible positive and negative impacts of sport and will evoke the thinking about the future of sport. Students are so involved into actual topics of public sport policy and through their analyses they learn about the practice.
