Annotation -
Sharing clinical experience and interests in physiotherapy. The course is designed as a virtual program involving several universities that implement the Physiotherapy and Applied Science Program. The program includes intensive virtual communication, online meetings and individual student activities as well as small group work.

Aim of the course -

The aim of the course is to provide students with the knowledge, skills and general competencies so that after the completion of the course the students:

  • are able to improve their language skills in general and are able to talk about physiotherapy (study) related subjects in particular
  • are able to gain insight into physiotherapy and health care systems in another country (course contents, motivation and interests, job opportunities and preferences, etc.)
  • are aware of (intercultural) differences with regard to physiotherapy (study) and aware of ‘the meaning of being healthy’ in different international/intercultural perspective
  • are aware of the role of a physiotherapist in enhancing physical activity in a different international/intercultural perspectives

Intercultural Peer Programme – Summary of Activities

Introduction Meeting & Preparation

Understand the project goals and peer exchange process.

Choose 5 photos (3 physiotherapy, 2 personal) and prepare to present them.

Prepare a short overview of your national healthcare system (focus on physiotherapy).

Make first contact with your international peer by email.

First Peer Conversation

Meet online and share mutual expectations.

Ask and answer guiding questions (Annex 4).

Discuss your 5 photos and healthcare system.

Note key cultural differences and insights.

Document the meeting (journal + screenshot).

Group Reflection & Preparation for 2nd Conversation

Discuss first meeting experiences and challenges in your local group.

Watch 2 videos and read 2 articles on Global Health and Sustainable Healthcare.

Prepare to discuss the physiotherapist’s role in health promotion and SDGs.

Second Peer Conversation

Meet in a small international group (2–6 students).

Share ideas on sustainable physiotherapy and community health.

Reflect on similarities and differences across cultures.

Write key insights in your journal.

Final Report & Reflection

Submit a summary or presentation reflecting your intercultural learning.
