● The main goal of this subject is to teach students new skills which will help them successfully finish their PhD. study, and prepare them for academic and research activities as well as pedagogical work and practice. With regard to the type and aim of their study program, students will gain popularization skills connected to publishing activities for the wider public, and will also develop the ability to perform and act in public. The subject is co-organized with the Institute of Philosophy of the Czech Academy of Sciences based on the agreement between this institution and the Pedagogical faculty of Charles University. The student will consult the grant application, the scientific article, and the popularization outlet with a tutor. These three items are necessary to fulfil within "Publications".

Cílem předmětu je naučit studenta dovednostem, které mu umožní úspěšně absolvovat doktorské studium a připraví ho na akademickou badatelskou činnost a na univerzitní pedagogické působení. V souladu se zaměřením studijního programu rovněž získá popularizační dovednosti spjaté s publikační činností určenou širší veřejnosti spolu se schopností vystupovat ve veřejném prostoru. Předmět se uskutečňuje ve spolupráci s Filosofickým ústavem AV ČR na základě dohody mezi touto institucí a Pedagogickou fakultou UK.

Atestace bude udělena na základě hodnocení aktivit studujícího v předmětu a to zejména: přípravy grantové žádosti, odborného článku a popularizačního textu (na základě dohody mezi vyučujícím a studujícím).
Doporučený postup: v druhém či třetím ročníku se přihlásit jednomu z garantů předmětu, s nímž doktorand bude konzultovat přípravu grantové žádosti, odborný text a popularizační výstup. Splnění kurzu se doporučuje ve třetím ročníku na základě výsledné podoby těchto tří položek.

Syllabus -
● The content of this subject is separated into two parts. The first part is dedicated to scientific and research skills, and the second is dedicated to popularization skills. In the first part of the course, students will be introduced to the requirements of Phd. study. They will attend lectures on how to write academic texts in Czech, English or another language. Students will also get acquainted with the process of publishing texts in Czech and foreign scientific journals, and with the procedure of publishing academic monographies. In cooperation with the Pedagogical faculty and the Institute of Philosophy of the Czech Academy of Sciences, students will be introduced to the topic of applications for grants and foreign scholarships. In the second part of the course, students will gain popularization skills. They will be introduced to the basic principles of rhetoric on both theoretical and practical levels, and will also learn how to express academic themes in an understandable way for the wider public. Another part of the course is a practical exercise in which students will learn how to present the results of their research in public. Popularization training will be organized in cooperation with the Institute of Philosophy AS CR.

Obsah předmětu je rozdělen na část věnovanou výzkumným dovednostem a část věnovanou popularizačním dovednostem. V první části bude student uveden do požadavků doktorského studia. Absolvuje průpravu k psaní odborného textu v českém a anglickém jazyce. Seznámí se s problematikou publikování v tuzemských a zahraničních odborných časopisech a s postupy při publikování odborných monografií. Ve spolupráci s příslušnými pracovišti Pedagogické fakulty UK a Filosofického ústavu AV ČR se seznámí s metodikou podávání grantů a získávání zahraničních stipendií. V druhé části kurzu si student osvojí popularizační dovednosti. Seznámí se s principy rétoriky v teoretické, a především praktické rovině, naučí se formulovat odborná témata v podobě srozumitelné širší veřejnosti. Praktickým cvičením v rámci semináře získá schopnost vystupovat na veřejnosti a prezentovat výsledky své badatelské práce. Popularizační průprava se uskuteční ve spolupráci s Filosofickým ústavem AV ČR.
