Annotation -
The aim of the course is to deepen the students knowledge in the field of prevention, treatment and research of the use of addictive substances and other forms of potentially addictive behaviour, their impact on an individual and on the society. The course is based on the concept of an interdisciplinary field of addictology which shows itself in the effort in interlinking of new findings about the causes and development of addictive behaviour from the field of medicine, psychology, sociology and social work. It concurrently takes into account relevant findings in economy, law, criminology, pedagogy, politology, religionistics and cultural and social anthropology. The course creates a theoretical superstructure of the related compulsory subjects.

Aim of the course -

The aim of the course is to deepen the students knowledge in the field of prevention, treatment and research of the use of addictive substances and other forms of potentially addictive behaviour, their impact on an individual and on the society and on social reintegration of people who suffer as a result of such forms of behaviour.

Requirements to the exam -

Credit requirements:  the test - open and closed questions (min. 75%). For graded credit it is possible to use three attempts.The student may use the three opportunities to write the test, one examination and two retakes.

  • Basic terminology in addictology.
  • Bio-psycho-social model of addictive behavior.
  • Addictive behavior: causes, process, consequences.
  • Working with specific clientele.
  • Factors relevant to the completion of a drug career, therapy and its alternatives, change of lifestyle.
  • Selected psychotropic substances and their effects.
  • Creation and implementation of prevention programs in schools and educational facilities.
  • The teacher and his role in addiction prevention.
