Tento kurs poskytuje studentům základní vhled do dějinného vývoje Velké Británie a USA. Cílem přednášek je seznámit studenty s klíčovými událostmi britských a amerických dějin. Semináře, které bezprostředně navazují na témata přednášek, si kladou za cíl nabyté znalosti systematizovat a prohloubit na základě doplňkové četby a následné diskuze. Tematické celky: 1. Dějiny Anglie od příchodu Římanů do nástupu Alžběty I. / England between Romans and the ascent of ElisabethÉra britského kolonialismu – od Alžběty I. do konce 19. století 2. Éra britského kolonialismu – od Alžběty I. do konce 19. století (Era of British colonialism – from Elisabeth I. until the end of 19th century) 3. Británie ve dvacátém století (Britain in the 20th century) 4. USA – vznik státu (od raného osídlení do vzniku ústavy Spojených států) / USA – the establishment of the country (from the early settlement to the Constitution of the United States) 5. USA – formování národa (USA v dlouhém 19. století) / USA – the building of the nation (USA in the long 19th century) 6.
