The course introduces social and cultural ecology as a field that studies fundamental transformations of the world and human society in recent decades. The contexts, causes and impacts of these changes are analyzed on specific examples, allowing students to understand the basic principles of how the globalizing world works.

The aim of the course is to find and critically evaluate the arguments for the support of sustainable development. The subject has close links to pedagogical work and therefore students will create proposals for the implementation of particular topics of social and cultural ecology into teaching at secondary school.
