The announced course is about nothing less than the fundamentality of language and speaking in the locating negotiation of the individual, his or her identity, his or her social stay, as well as his or her group relations within the historical society, in which he or she lives, speaks and is addressed.
After some basic discussions, I would like to take you on a short journey into the period between 1350 and 1650 in order to follow the traces of linguistic exclusion strategies, i.e. linguistic violence of exclusion. You will
not only come across the same strategies and functions of speaking and discriminating over and over again, but you will also see that despite the historical distance, these strategies continue to have the same effect.
The following topics will be discussed: Strategies and functions of exclusion; strategies of language discrimination; verbal humiliation with speech acts, metaphors, presuppositions, pronominalisation; the verbal construction of race, the anti-Semitic discourse; othering.

Im angekündigten Kurs geht es um nicht weniger als um die Fundamentalität der Sprache und des
Sprechens im verortenden Aushandeln des Individuums, seiner Identität, seiner sozialen Bleibe wie
seiner Gruppenbindungen innerhalb der historischen Gesellschaft, in der es lebt, spricht und
angesprochen wird. Nach einigen grundsätzlichen Erörterungen möchte ich mit Ihnen eine kleine Reise
in die Zeit zwischen 1350 und 1650 machen, um dort den Spuren sprachlicher Ausgrenzungsstrategien,
das heißt sprachlicher Ausgrenzungsgewalt, nachzugehen. Sie werden dabei nicht nur immer wieder auf
dieselben Strategien und Funktionen des Sprechens und des Diskriminierens stoßen, sie werden auch
sehen, dass diese trotz der historischen Distanz immer noch in derselben Weise fortwirken. Es geht also
um die Gegenwart des entehrenden und diskriminierenden Sprechens im Spiegel der in Texten zu uns
sprechenden Geschichte.
