The aim of the course is to obtain a basic overview of the field of piano and string pedagogy, to get acquainted with the history and developmental stages of the field and to understand the rules and relations of this development. The basic ideas of contemporary instrumental teaching are demonstrated on the principles of the development of European piano pedagogy and key works in the field from the oldest schools to the present. Emphasis is placed on a thorough analysis of the most important principles of instrumental teaching with a focus on individual issues such as tone formation, pupils' musical development, hearing and music playing issues, development of instrumental technique, creativity issues, artistic level of individual schools, physiological and psychological aspects, etc. The starting point is the students' own artistic or pedagogical experience.
