The subject concerns to the repetition and systematization of basic music theory (notation, names of notes in different European languages, major and minor scales, church and folklore modes, intervals, chords and their inversions,non-harmonic notes, harmonic functions and basic harmonic cadences) and survey of musical instruments. It is a precondition for more detailed study of other theoretical disciplines.

Předmět je zaměřen na zopoakování a systemizaci základní hudební teorie, kterou by studenti měli z větší části znát již při nástupu na fakultu (notace, durové a mollové stupnice, církevní a folklorní mody, intervaly, akordy a jejich obraty, harmonické funkce a základní harmonická kadence) a na přehled hudebních nástrojů. Zvládnutí této látky je předpokladem pro detailnější studium hudební teorie v dalších speciálních disciplínách.
