To provide information and instructions necessary for elaborating the diploma thesis. To present the elementary pronciples of scientific work and to highlight formal requirements for the diploma thesis. The seminar will be followed up by individual consultations of the student with the tutor, who directs and controls student´s work regularly.

I. Mémoire de maîtrise comme initiation ? la recherche scientifique

• r?gles ? apprendre et ? observer :

intellectuelles, méthodologiques, formelles et administratives

II. Choisir et définir son sujet

• ni trop général, ni trop vaste, ni rebattu

• l'originalité versus l'existence des sources

III. Démarche générale des recherches et calendrier ? respecter

• organisation du travail

• esquisse d'une démarche et d'une méthode de travail type

• travail assisté par ordinateurs - conseils généraux

IV. Le travail de recherche - élaboration d'un corpus d'étude

• traiter de différents types de supports : monographies, revues scientifiques, ouvrages et textes spécialisés, dictionnaires généraux et spécialisés

• principes de recherches dans les biblioth?ques

• principes de recherches sur l'Internet, fichiers des biblioth?ques et textes intégraux on-line

• travail sur le terrain, enqu?tes, sondages ? réaliser etc.

V. La rédaction du Mémoire

• principes du style scientifique

• plan de la rédaction, division du corpus en chapitres et sous-chapitres

• travail avec les sources, citations et mentions bibliographiques, notes

• l'Introduction, la Conclusion et la Bibliographie
