Algebraic geometry belongs to the most progressive branches of mathematics. Many of the famous problems in mathematics were solved using its machinery, including Fermat's last theorem. On the ground of algebraic geometry lies the geometric reformulation of problems, which are not a priory of geometrical origin, e.g. the system of algebraic equations.
