The goal is to introduce basic principles and methods used in modelling of physical-geographic processes. First, basic modelling approaches, model classification, structure, calibration and validation and model errors are discussed. The main block of this lecture is focused on the introduction of model use in different disciplines of physical geography, such as meteorology, climatology, hydrology, geomorphology and geoecology. The third block is focused on a discussion of model use in decision-making, and the application of GIS tools as a support of the modelling and model uncertainty.
