Technical reports of four practical exercises must be submitted in order to successfully complete the course (see the course description/syllabus for details).

Syllabus

The course is primarily intended for Erasmus students. It covers various topics of Cartography, Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing (RS):

1. Challenges of modern cartography
2. Project in cartography*
3. Open GIS and Open Data
4. Spatial Data Analysis using GIS
5. Automation of spatial data processing and analysis*
6. Introduction to Remote Sensing
7. RS data: USGS archives (Landsat, MODIS), Sentinel-2A*
8. Land cover classification*
9. Copernicus land service, RS Big Data and Cloud computing (Google Earth Engine and Sentinel Hub Apps)
10. RADAR remote sensing
11. 3D point clouds

To complete the course and to get credits you shall:

• Participate at the lectures (two absences are accepted)
• Deliver 4 assignments in topics marked with * (GIS & Cartography – 2, Remote Sensing – 2) before 12^th May of the respective academic year.
