75% presence at lectures, Seminar work (15 pages) of the chosen topic according to teh topics of given lectures - topic must be chosen till the 3th after a discussion with a respective lecture - during the semester, the chosen topic must be discussed with the lecturer during the semester - the written work must be sent to the lecturer at least 2 weeks before the final presentation - at the end of the semester presentation of the chosen topic in powerpoint (8 minutes) |

Lectures:
15.2.2023 Hydrology of the Czech Republic (Dr.Chalupová) The main hydrological characteristics of the country, discharge of rivers, hydrological regime of rivers, recent floods in Prague, water consumption in the Czech Republic, water law authorities, water quality monitoring.
22.2.2023 Geology and Geomorphology of the Czech Republic (Dr. Hartvich) This lecture covers the elementary description of the geological and geomorphological setting and development of the area of the Czech Republic. The geological development is described both regionally and in the context of the formation of the European continent. Geomorphological regions are characterized with regard to the morphological and morphometrical properties of the relief.
1.3.2023 Hydrometeorological hazards in Central Europe (Dr. Müller) The lecture concerns with natural hazards induced by atmospheric processes on various spatial as well as temporal scales. Following issues will be presented: overview of hazards; mechanisms producing them; possible variants; geographical and seasonal distribution; significant historical events.
8.3.2023 Physical-geographical regionalization of the Czech Republic (Dr. Romportl) Lecture provides basic information on methods of physical - geographical regionalization and landscape classification. Introduction to data on natural and cultural environmental variables of the Czech Republic, their synthesis and classification into types or regions on different spatial scales
15.3.2023 Pedology and pedogeography of the Czech Republic (Dr. Chuman) The basic information on pedogenesis, soil forming factors and geography of soils within the Czech Republic will be presented.
22.3.2023 Soil erosion: Is it a problem of the Czech Republic? (Assoc. prof. Kliment) An occurrence and soil erosion hazards in the Czech Republic, main erosion factors and their effects, water erosion processes and their relationships to sediments transport and water pollution, presentation of case studies
29.3.2023 Geomorphological hazards and risks in the Czech Republic (Prof. Vilímek) Natural hazards and risks will be described in general way and with regard to specific conditions of the Czech Republic. Triggering factors and management of risks will be included as well. Several examples of natural hazards of the Czech Republic will be performed.
5.4.2023 Nature and landscape protection of the Czech Republic (Assoc. prof. Lipský) System of nature and landscape protection in the Czech Republic, species protection and territorial protection, categories of protected areas, national parks, landscape protected areas and significant landscape types under protection.
12.4.2023 Selected Problems of the Czech Environment (Assoc. prof. Treml) Lecture will give an overview about recent state of the environment in the Czech Republic. Main environmental weaknesses and threats will be stressed. Special emphasis will be put on acidification, changes in nutrient regime and its consequences. Comparison of the Czech Republic and EU countries will be made using environmental indices.
