Learning outcomes -
  •  The student understands the terminology of organic compounds and can apply the correct terms in chemical contexts.
  •  The student identifies basic types of organic reactions and can classify them according to their characteristics.
  •  The student explains the principles of isomerism and distinguishes between inductive and mesomeric effects, including stereochemical terms.
  •  The student explains the properties and reactions of hydrocarbons, including alkanes, alkenes, alkynes, and aromatics, and gives examples of their representatives.
  •  The student describes the preparation and properties of derivatives of hydrocarbons, such as halides, alcohols, carbonyl compounds, and carboxylic acids.
  •  The student classifies natural substances such as heterocycles, isoprenoids, dyes, and fragrances and understands their importance in biochemistry.
  •  The student analyzes the composition of living organisms and understands the role of various biomolecules in biological processes.
  •  The student classifies carbohydrates according to their structure and function and can explain their metabolism.
  •  The student describes the structure of amino acids and peptides, including their properties and functions in the body.
  •  The student understands the structure of proteins and can distinguish between different types of folded proteins.
  •  The student explains enzymatic reactions including reaction equilibrium, enzyme kinetics, inhibition and regulation of processes.
  •  The student describes the structure of nucleic acids and understands the processes of replication, transcription, and translation.
  •  The student understands the structure of lipids and biomembranes, including their functions and metabolic pathways such as β-oxidation.
  •  The student understands the basic relationships in metabolism, including catabolism and anabolism, and can describe key metabolic pathways.
  •  The student understands human biochemistry, including digestion, blood oxygen transport, hormonal regulation, and metabolism of foreign substances.
  •  The student explains the process of photosynthesis and distinguishes between the different types of plants (C3, C4, CAM) involved in this process.
