Annotation -
The course is intended primarily for students of the study program of Demography after completing at least the courses of SAS Applications in Demography I, II and III. Within companies participating in the internship, students have the opportunity to see the practical use of SAS, but also to look into the functioning of individual companies, gain practical experience and above all to use their advanced knowledge of SAS programming and population issues.
The internship can take place both in blocks (i.e. within 1-2 weeks of the semester) as well as throughout the semester - it depends on the individual agreement between the student and the host institution. In any case, there should be about 40-50 hours of direct practice (+ 30-40 hours of self-preparation as needed). The course includes one introductory and one final seminar of approximately 90 minutes held at the faculty on the date announced before the beginning of the semester.
Specific information for the relevant academic year is provided in the system Moodle.

See Moodle for detail onformation in the pandemic-time.

Course assessment methods and requirements for successful completion, grading scheme -

Completion of the specified number of hours of practice will be confirmed by the host institution within the Student Acceptance Agreement. The obligatory part of the course is also participation in the introductory and final seminar at the Faculty of Science (see Annotation and detailed information in Moodle).

Attention! Read up-to-date information in Moodle - candidates for the traineeship have to be signed up in a shared document (or via e-mail to the garant of the course) for the specific positions offered - if you enroll in SIS without interest in a specific position (declared in the shared document in Moodle or e-mail to the garant of the course), you cannot complete the course! link to the shared document, job posting, and more information see Moodle

Learning outcomes -

Upon completing the course, students will gain practical experience of using SAS in a real professional setting, whether in a corporate, research, or specialised training environment. They will expand and deepen their existing SAS skills and will be able to apply them to a specific task using real-world data, such as data preparation and validation, conducting a partial analysis, producing outputs, or interpreting results.

Students will become familiar with opportunities for the professional and research-oriented use of SAS, understand the basic requirements of analytical work in an institutional setting, and be able to communicate their analytical approach and results. They will also gain experience in organising their own work, completing an assigned task, and using professional resources and support to address practical analytical problems.
