Annotation -
The Diploma Seminar is designed for students who work out and will defend their thesis at Department of Teaching and Didactics of Chemistry. During the course, students will learn the ways of writing their thesis and they get information about the most common mistakes in the thesis writing. The course also includes presentations on current topics in didactics of chemistry.

Diplomový seminář je určen pro studenty, kteří vypracovávají a budou obhajovat diplomovou práci na KUDCH.
Na semináři studenti informují členy katedry a své kolegy o tématu, pojetí, koncepci a metodice své diplomové práce, prezentují své dosavadní výsledky. Součástí diplomových seminářů jsou rovněž přednášky na aktuální témata související s výzkumem v didaktice přírodovědných oborů.
Za úspěšné vystoupení v seminářích může udělit zápočet garant předmětu a také školitel DP.

Learning outcomes -

The Diploma Seminar MC280S23B builds on the Diploma Seminar MC280S23A, therefore the learning outcomes of the seminars are logically related to each other

  • Clarification of the research question and objectives of the thesis: Students formulate a clear research question, or hypothesis, and objectives for their thesis.
    Developing skills in working with the literature: Students will learn to effectively search and critically evaluate sources and analyze different theories and approaches relevant to their topic.
    The ability to develop a methodology: Students would select appropriate research methods and procedures to address their research question and then apply them.
    Ability to interpret the results of their research: students would interpert the results of their research correctly and evaluate the limitations of their research.
    Designing the structure and logic of a thesis: Students will develop a structure for a thesis that is logically organized and clear.
    Improve presentation and defense skills: Students will develop the ability to present their work, discuss their results, and defend their ideas to a professional audience.
    Supervisor and classmate feedback: Students receive ongoing feedback on their research from peers and instructors and improve their research based on that feedback.
    Proper handling of formalities: Students have knowledge of proper citation, formatting, and other technicalities of final papers.
