Annotation -
The course is intended for students of "Clinical and toxicological analysis", it is the first half of a two-semester course.
Introduction, basic terms and principles of biochemistry. Biomolecules (proteins, saccharides, lipids and nucleic acids) - their structure and biochemical properties. Enzymes - properties, structure, coenzymes and cofactors. Bioenergetics - thermodynamic principles, macroergic compounds.
Basic methodology of biochemistry (isolation and purification of biomolecules, laboratory animals, immunochemical methods, microscopy

Syllabus -

Structure of living cell and biochemical function of organelles. Molecular components of cell (amino acids, peptides, proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, nucleic acids), their structure, chemical and biochemical properties. Enzymes - structure of enzyme molecule, enzyme properties, kinetics of enzyme reaction, regulatory enzymes. Basic biochemical methodology: arrangement of the work in biochemical laboratories, organization of chemical literature, evaluation of results. Isolation and purification of biomolecules, seperation methods, electromigration. Laboratory animals. Immmunochemical methods, microscopy.
