Annotation -
This practical laboratory course is focused on the preparation and characterisation of inorganic compounds and materials in relation to courses of advanced inorganic and organometallic chemistry. Students learn special synthetic techniques (e.g., Schlenk techniques, handling of liquid gases and air-sensitive compounds, preparation at microscale, purification of by means of chromatographic methods and crystallisation). The compounds are characterised using appropriate methods (multinuclear NMR, UV-VIS, IR spectroscopies, mass spectrometry etc.). The laboratory course takes 15 days in winter semester and is designed for first year master degree students.

Literature -

Any textbook of Advanced preparative inorganic chemistry and then literature relating to the individual syntheses.

Last update: Kubíček Vojtěch, doc. RNDr., Ph.D. (22.04.2015)
Requirements to the exam -

Credits are awarded when all the syntheses are completed, the compounds prepared duly characterised and the experimental work completely presented in laboratory notes.

Last update: Kubíček Vojtěch, doc. RNDr., Ph.D. (22.04.2015)
Syllabus -

During this course, students are expected to carry out several model preparations to cover fields mentioned in Annotation and to adequately characterise all compounds prepared.
