Annotation -
Analytical chemistry is an applied research area aimed at the study of chemical composition of various materials and at the development of new methods of analysis. The main goal of the lecture is to make the students acquainted with the structure and basic tools of this specialization and to provide an overall survey of the principles of selected analytical methods, their significance in practice and possible applications. The course of analytical chemistry ends through both written exam and consequent oral exam.

Requirements to the exam -

The exam in analytical chemistry is combined, i.e. written and oral. Successful completion of the written test precedes the oral examination before the examining board. Requirements for the written test and oral exam are given by the extent of the lecture. For successful completion of the written test and oral examination is required at least 65% success rate.

Syllabus -

Redox titrations. Methods of instrumental analysis. Electroanalytical methods. Electrochemical cells and electrode potentials. Potentiometry. Voltametry and electrochemical sensors. Coulometry. Conductometry. Survey and differentiation among spectral methods. Survey and differentiotion among separation methods. Statistical evaluation of analytical data.

Learning outcomes -

After completing the course, the student will be able to perform redox titrations, clarify instrumental analysis methods, perform electroanalytical methods, explain electrochemical cells and electrode potentials, clarify potentiometry, clarify voltammetry and electrochemical sensors, clarify coulometry, clarify conductometry, explain overview and division of spectroscopic methods, explain overview and division of separation methods and perform the statistical evaluation of the results of analytical measurements.
