The course is focusing on behavioural ecology and sociobiology of African vertebrates. Mating and reproductive systems, life histories, predatory and antipredatory strategies, spatial use and other behavioural traits of principal species are thoroughly described and analyzed in terms of fitness benefits. The theoretical concepts are adopted from behavioural and evolutionary ecology and sociobiology. Special attention is devoted to implications for conservation biology of endangered species of the Africal continent. Practical part of the course is performed in the Zoo Dvůr Králové nad Labem. It includes observation of behaviour of African ungulates, namely antelops, zebras and rhinos.

Please note, the lectures are given in Czech language. English version of the course can be requested in advance
if there are at least 5 students.

Last update: Ing. Jindřiška Peterková (25.05.2015)

Zkouška je ústní a velmi podrobná. Předmětem zkoušky je vše, co bylo odpřednášeno behem přednášky, jakož i obsah doplňkové četby z oboru, kterou si studenti mohou zvolit dle pokynů vyučujících. Zkouška prověřuje jak přímo znalosti, tak i schopnost pochopit souvislosti (k tomu jsou ovšem potřeba elementární znalosti zoologie, ekologie a evoluční biologie a dalších biologických oborů získané předchozím studiem).
