Annotation -
The course is taught in English and is intended for foreign students of the master's program "Parasitology and Infection Biology". The main content of the lecture is to explain the life strategies of helminths, the modes of transmission to new hosts, and to present the spectrum of the most important helminths affecting humans and domestic/farm animals, including those with zoonotic potential. The overview of the most important helminths concerns the groups Trematoda, Cestoda and Nematoda, and includes information on life cycles and transmission, morphology, epidemiology, pathobiology, diagnostics and treatment. To gain comprehensive knowledge about parasitic helminths, it is also advisable to complete the relevant practical course.

Requirements to the exam -
The course is concluded with an oral exam (in the form of an interview without preparation, lasting 30-60 minutes), which cross-sectionally verifies the subject knowledge. The mandatory sources of information for preparing for the exam are the lecture presentations published on https://www.helminthology.cz/teaching.html and your own lecture notes, i.e., the content of the lectures. Foreign books listed here and on the website are recommended as additional literature for study; these books are available online with an access code.
