This subject is meant for Erasmus students.
The introductory course "Parasitology" provides a brief overview of parasitic protists, helminths and arthropods, highlighting their phylogenetic relationships, life cycles/transmission modes and survival strategies. The most important human and animal parasites (mentioning also their pathogenicity, course of the illness, epidemiology, etc.) are presented. Last update: Bulantová Jana, RNDr., Ph.D. (13.09.2017)

Examination will be done in the form of online test in Moodle The earliest date of exam will be possible after the last lecture will be finished.
The most important sources of informations for exam will be particular lectures, where you can ask teachers for detailed explanation personally. Presentations will be accessible through Moodle system with actualized passwords. During studying of materials, you should focus primarily on important human parasites, their life cycles, geographical distribution, main mechanisms of transmission and pathology, connections between vectors and pathogens, basic biology of main systematic groups of parasites and basic evolutionary context between them. Individual results of your exam will be notified via e-mails usually 1-2 days after exam.
Rules for the TEST
The online test in Moodle will be opened for the first attempts continuously for the main part of exam period. Number of students enrolled is not restricted, time and the date is not limited, you can make the test whenever you want.
Each student will have three attempts to pass the exam. First attempt is freely opened, second and third will be available in Moodle after the individual consultation of previous results of the test via e-mail with the garant Jana Bulantová (bulantov@natur.cuni.cz) and will be password protected. Following attempts will be opened not earlier than 5 days after the previous. Second and third attempt will be opened only for students who have failed for the first time.
The test consists of 30 questions; you can reach 1 point for each completely correctly answered question. Each question has minimal 1 correct answer, more than one answer can be correct. There are no minus points, but any incomplete/partially correct answer will be considered as incorrect with zero points.
The time for completing the test is 45 minutes.
During the test you should not use any materials (presentations from lectures, literature, your own materials, internet etc.)
Prior to opening the test, you need to confirm that it will be completed only by you, without advices of other people, internet resources, materials provided for the course etc. It can be done by filling the Students statement in Moodle. Without confirmed statement, you will not be able to open the test. Please, be fair to yourself and your colleagues even in these difficult times.
Scoring of the test is based on the system: „all or nothing“
Completely correct answer – 1 point Partially correct answer – 0 point Incorrect answer – 0 point Blank test question – 0 point There are no minus points
Results will be available immediately after the attempt with grade scale written below and will be filled to the SIS by me minimal once in the week. Students with failed test will contact me (bulantov@natur.cuni.cz) for e-mail consultation of the results and will receive password for the next attempt.
Grade scale 30 – 26 points – 1 25 – 21 points – 2 20 – 15 points – 3 Less than 15 points – 4 (failure) Last update: Bulantová Jana, RNDr., Ph.D. (23.09.2020)
