The main goal of this practical course is to introduce students to details of the structure of a plant cell. Students will visualize plant cell structures and organelles in a model plant material using methods that preserve given structure in a native state. The emphasis is put on in vivo visualization, which enables observation of cell structures in living cells. The practical course will acquaint participants with principles of advanced visualization and microscopy techniques including GFP (Green Fluorescent Protein) technology. An epifluorescence microscope and a confocal laser scanning microscope will be used during the course for in vivo plant cell structures visualization. Participants are strongly recommended to attend, concurrently or previously, lectures Cell Biology (MB150P31) and Plant Cytology (MB130P30).
