2. Hellenism and its contribution to Jewish art (periodization: Macabean revolt, Hasmonean dynasty, iconism and anikonism, architecture), the growing influence of the diaspora.
3. Roman invasioni and anti-Roman rebellion in Galilee and Judea, destruction of the Jerusalem temple (reach, adaptation, interpretation), comparison with the Bar Kochb Rebellion (literary sources).
4. From the discussions of hakhamim to the editing of Mishnah tractates, the development of symbolism, the material culture of the tanna'im era, the terminology of rabbinical literature (the identity of the school in Jabneh, Sephoris and Tiberias, and documents of material culture).
5. Evolution of rabbinical literature to the edition of Jerusalem and Babylon Talmud as a source of literature and scholarship of European Jewish communities (an overview of the development of this literary tradition, rabbinical scholarship and synagogue institutions in the legal framework of the Byzantine Empire), architecture and mosaic of late ancient synagogues, material culture of the period amora'im, reception of rabbinic writing in European communities.
6. The origination and emancipation of European diaspora centers (legends of origin in Iberian, the Apennine peninsula, Franco-German regions, interpretation and contribution of responsive literature, findings in the Cairo genizah - Hebrew illuminated manuscripts, documents of ritual art).
7. Crusades (sources, migration and the nature of the destruction of the European Jewish communities at the time of the crusades, the testimony of the Hebrew liturgical poetry, the mystical tradition).
8. Synagogue and Jewish community in the European environment (Synagogue architecture in Rhineland, Bohemia and adjacent countries), iconography, Hebrew illuminated manuscripts.

Judaismus (problematika výchozího bodu, umění Levantu a vliv na hebrejskou populaci) periodizace židovského umění, úloha babylonského exilu a návrat (budování post-exilního společenství), vývoj jeruzalémského chrámu a jeho rozdělení (židovské umění v období prvního a druhého jeruzalémského chrámu), problematika vzniku synagogy.
2. Helénismus a jeho přínos židovskému umění (periodizace: makabejské povstání, hasmonejská dynastie; problematika ikonismu a anikonismu, architektura), rostoucí vliv diaspory.
3. Římská okupace a povstání v Galileji a Judeji, zničení Jeruzalémského chrámu (dosah, strategie adaptace, interpretace), srovnání s Bar Kochbovým povstáním (literární památky).
4. Od diskusí moudrých k redakci traktátů Mišny, rozvoj symboliky, hmotná kultura doby tana'im, terminologie rabínské literatury (identita učiliště v Javne, Seforis a Tiberiadě a doklady hmotné kultury).
5. Vývoj rabínské literatury do redakce talmudu jeruzalémského a babylonského jako zdroj písemnictví a učenosti evropských obcí (přehled vývoje této literární tradice, rabínská učenost a instituce synagogy v právním rámci byzantského impéria), architektura a mozaika pozdně starověkých synagog, hmotná kultura období amora'im, recepce rabínského písemnictví v evropských obcích.
6. Vznik a emancipace evropských diasporních center (legendy o původu na Iberském, Apeninském poloostrově, franko-německých regionech, interpretace a přínos responzivní literatury, nálezy v Káhirské genize - památky hebrejských iluminovaných rukopisů, doklady rituálního umění).
7. Křížové výpravy (prameny, migrace a povaha destrukce evropských židovských obcí v době křížových výprav, svědectví hebrejské elegické poezie, ohlas v mystické tradici).
8. Synagoga a obec v evropském prostředí (synagogální architektura v Porýní, Čechách a přilehlých zemích), ikonografie, hebrejské iluminované rukopisy.

Aim of the course -
The course will provide a basic orientation in the sources of European Jewish culture, focusing on the issues of architecture, the interpretation of the artistic expression in material Hebrew culture, the influence of Hebrew sources on the perception of art in the life of the Levant, and later Syro-Palestine and European Jewish communities in a diasporal environment. It will end with an ungraded assessment.

Kurz poskytne základní orientaci ve zdrojích evropské kultury se zaměřením na problematiku architektury, interpretaci výtvarného vyjádření v hmotné hebrejské kultuře, vlivu hebrejského písemnictví na percepci umění v životě Levantu a posléze Syro-palestiny a evropských židovských obcí v diasporním prostředí. Bude zakončen zápočtem.
