Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of the Christian faith in a broad, particularly religious, context. They will be introduced to the philosophical and theological issues surrounding the existence of God. Attention will be given to the biblical faith in relation to other religious and philosophical ideas about God. This is followed by an introduction to the major biblical themes of the Old Testament: creation, sin and salvation. These themes provide the basis for a discussion of Jesus of Nazareth, both from a historical perspective and from the perspective of the New Testament faith. It is the person, teachings and life story of Jesus that are key to understanding Christianity in history and in the present.

Studenti budou seznámeni se základy křesťanské víry v širokém zejména religionistickém kontextu. Budou uvedeni do filosofických a teologických otázek týkajících se Boží existence. Pozornost bude věnována biblické víře ve vztahu k ostatním náboženským a filosofickým představám o Bohu. Následně budou představena podstatná biblická starozákonní témata: stvoření člověka, hřích a dějiny spásy. Tato témata představují základ pro pojednání o Ježíši z Nazareta z historického hlediska i z perspektivy novozákonní víry. Právě Ježíšova osoba, její učení a životní příběh jsou klíčem k porozumění křesťanství v dějinách i současnosti.

Předmět je zakončen zápočtem. Podmínkou udělení zápočtu je splnění písemného testu na konci semestru.
