The aim of lecture is to introduce the students to the method of Christian iconography. In the beginning it is
necesssery to explain the main terminology (iconography, iconology, work of art in context, etc.) The method is
shown at the representative works of art, both in Bohemia and in the world of all epochs. The summer term is
dedicated to individual themes of christian iconography (the origin of christian iconography in early christian
community, text and image, the Annunciation of Our Lady, the Crucifixion, etc.).

Posláním tohoto předmětu, který je přednášen dva semestry a zakončen ústní zkouškou, je seznámit posluchače s
metodou a s
hlavními náměty křesťanské ikonografie. V úvodních přednáškách jde o objasnění základních pojmů (ikonografie,
ikonologie, umělecké dílo v kontextu atd.). Metoda pak je demonstrována na vybraných dílech českého a
světového
umění všech epoch, a to s přihlédnutím k ikonografii jednotlivého díla i celků. Druhý semestr pak je věnován
jednotlivým
námětům křesťanské ikonografie (zrození křesťanské ikonografie v raně křesťanské společnosti, text a obraz,
Zvěstování
Panně Marii, Narození Páně, Ukřižování atd.)
