The seminar is devoted to analysis and interpretation of selected works of contemporary political philosophy. The first block concentrates on the political philosophy of Hannah Arendt and discusses the concept of totalitarianism in the 20th and 21st centuries. It also provides the background of phenomenological approach to politics utilized by Czech political thinkers Jan Patočka and Václav Havel discussed in block two. The third block concentrates on liberal-communitarian debate featuring works by John Rawls, Murray Rothbard and Michael Sandel. The forth block takes on multiple themes from the third one and discusses several critical theories including the Frankfurt School, theory of communalism employed in Rojava and a concept of universal basic income.
