Annotation -
The course is intended for the students of Bachelor’s and Master’s degree studies at FSV who - prior to the beginning of the academic year - seek to review and consolidate the classwork that must be mastered to attend the seminar of German I. We recommend the course especially to those students who are at A2 level, who did not pass the placement test in the previous year or have not reviewed the language for a long time.

16.9.- 20.9. in Jinonice in the morning and in the afternoon. The schedule of the course will be published after 9.9.

Aim of the course -

The course is focused on deepening the knowledge of general language. Emphasis will be placed on practicing grammar and vocabulary both in oral and written form, comprehension of the text that is both read and heard, and on enhancing communication skills.

Course completion requirements -

The basic condition for a successful completion of the course is active participation in the seminar:

- Preparation for classes

- Completion of home assignments

- Class attendance.

In order to complete the course, an eighty-percent class attendance and passing of the final model test are required.

Seminar. Cooperative methods and social forms will be used in the course. The material covered will be also deepened through home assignments. Working with online exercises and applications will also form an integral part of the course.

Syllabus -

Planned conversational and grammar topics at the A2 + level.

 

Grammar areas:

• Verb (present tense for irregular verbs, modal verbs, perfect tenses, preterite for modal verbs and for the verbs “haben” and “sein”)

• Comparison using gradability of adjectives

• Word order in sentences

• Personal pronouns in dative and accusative

• Coordinate and subordinate connectors

• Inflection of adjectives

• Prepositions with dative and accusative

• Pronoun adverbs

 

Conversation areas:

• Languages and work in Europe

• Daily routine

• Media

• Facts and peculiarities of German-speaking countries

Expected entry level: at least A2-. The course is not intended for beginners or students who have already reached a B1 level.
