The subject is a typical interdisciplinary domain that in the present-day concept of the pharmaceutical care plays a very important role. Students get acquainted with the basic knowledge about biologically active components in food and their interactions with drugs. The information concerning distinctive special foods (functional foods) and nutraceuticals, and the importance of these preparations for the building of healthy life-style and preventing of civilization illnesses is also included. The attitudes of the public to the healthy nutrition are discussed and elucidated.
