Language teaching within the subject Professional English is optional. However, students must pass a mandatory English language exam within the subject Professional Foreign Language by the end of the 1st year. The program of the subject Professional English is planned for 2 semesters, 14/Winter Term + 14/Summer Term, and its scope covers the requirements for the exam at the end of the 1st year. Students can enroll in professional English language courses only for the entire year, i.e. both semesters of the 1st year. Participation in seminars and passing the credit are then mandatory for them and are aimed at successfully completing the final exam. In the seminars, students become familiar with professional vocabulary and the style of professional text. Professional language teaching is connected with general topics and supplemented with conversation with a focus on consolidating and developing all language skills. The aim of the course is to deepen language knowledge at an intermediate to advanced level (level B2-C1 according to the EJP) and to master specialist vocabulary and grammatical structures to the extent that the student is able to understand each other at both a general and specialist level, talk about their specialisation, read specialist literature in the original and express themselves in writing on the issues of their field.

Requirements for the exam
The subject Professional Foreign Language is concluded with a mandatory English language exam. The English language exam can be taken during the summer semester of the first year. If the student attends seminars that cover the requirements for the exam, he/she takes the exam during the summer exam period of the first year.
The exam consists of two parts: a) a written test focused on professional pharmaceutical, medical and healthcare terminology, vocabulary, understanding of a professional text and translation from Czech into English; b) an oral exam focused on verbal expression on a professional topic, mastery of grammar and vocabulary. During the oral part of the exam, the student is given one of the 30 questions listed below in the syllabus, knowledge of the vocabulary on the given topic is checked and additional questions are asked. Both the written and oral parts of the exam are based on teaching texts and materials from the mandatory literature.
Written test score: 100 points
Oral exam score: 100 points

seminář Výuka předmětu Odborný anglický jazyk vedoucí k povinné zkoušce z Odborného cizího jazyka ve studijním programu Léčivé rostliny a farmaceutika je formálně rozdělena do dvou semestrů 1. ročníku a probíhá v každém semestru 1x týdně po dobu 1 vyučovací hodiny tj. 90minut, celkem za oba semestry je tento předmět vyučován 28 vyučovacích hodin, 14/ZS+14/LS. Výuka probíhá v daném cizím jazyce, což pomáhá studentům rychleji reagovat a lépe se adaptovat na odbornou komunici. V seminářích se procvičují veškeré jazykové dovednosti (poslech, porozumění textu, analýza textu a odborných vídeí, procvičování slovní zásoby a frází, odborná terminologie, slovní spojení a kolokace, procvičování gramatických jevů, mluvený a psaný projev, správná výslovnost odborných pojmů, rolové hry např. rozhovor lékárník/doktor - pacient, výukové hry a kvízy, diskuze na odborná témata, tvorba prezentací) všemi dostupnými moderními metodami. Požadavky ke zkoušce Předmět Odborný cizí jazyk je zakončen povinnou zkouškou z anglického jazyka. Zkoušku z anglického jazyka je možné vykonat v průběhu letního semestru prvního ročníku. Navštěvuje-li student seminární cvičení, která svým rozsahem pokrývají požadavky ke zkoušce, skládá pak zkoušku v letním zkouškovém období 1.ročníku. Zkouška se skládá ze dvou částí: a) písemného testu zaměřeného na odbornou farmaceutickou, lékařskou a zdravotnickou terminologii, slovní zásobu, porozumění odbornému textu a překlad z českého jazyka do anglického jazyka; b) ústní zkoušky zaměřené na slovní projev k odbornému tématu, zvládnutí gramatiky a slovní zásoby. Studentovi je během ústní části zkoušky zadána jedna z níže v sylabu uvedených 30 otázek, prověřuje se znalost slovní zásoby k danému tématu a jsou položeny doplňující otázky. Písemná i ústní část zkoušky vycházejí z učebních textů a materiálů povinné literatury. Hodnocení písemného testu: 100 bodů Hodnocení ústní části zkoušky: 100 bodů Pro úspěšné složení zkoušky je třeba získat 70 % z celkového počtu bodů. Last update: Novická Zuzana, Mgr. (23.03.2025)
