Annotation -
The selected chapters of human pathology are intended as a subject to give a comprehensive picture of selected pathological conditions, which are important for the student especially with regard to the possible use of medicinal plants. The course focuses on basic information regarding the etiopathogenesis of disease, pathophysiological aspects and significant clinical symptoms in major diseases of organ systems and tissues.

The course will end with an oral examination in the scope of the material discussed in the lectures. The student will randomly choose two questions from the list of questions for the exam.

Syllabus -

Pathology - characteristics of the field and its methods. Health and disease. General etiology and pathogenesis of diseases. Teratogenic changes. Cell damage during pathological conditions in the organism

General pathology of inflammatory changes.

Pathological changes in the circulatory system: Atherosclerosis, disorders of lipid metabolism, ischemic heart disease, arterial hypertension, metabolic syndrome, heart failure.

Pathophysiology of the kidney: Disorders of acid-base balance, disorders of ion and water balance.

Pathological changes in the endocrine system: hypothalamo-pituitary axis, adrenal gland, thyroid pancreas.

Clinical pathology of the blood.

Pathological changes in the respiratory system: Obstructive and restrictive disorders, asthma bronchiale, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cough), respiratory insufficiency.

Pathological changes in the gastrointestinal system I: Pathophysiology of the gastrointestinal tract (ulcer disease, inflammatory diseases, diarrhea, constipation). Pathology of the pancreas and liver and gallbladder. Disorders of metabolism and nutrition.
