Social pharmacy is subject studying basic relations between drug and society. It focuses on drug efficiency and effectiveness from longitudinal perspective. Therefore social pharmacy used and develop basic discipline as pharmacoepidemiology, pharmacoinformatics and pharmacoeconomy. Social pharmacy used the results of research of other disciplines as pharmacy practice, clinical pharmacy, economic and management, psychology and low and together with them builds expert profile of graduated student of pharmacy. Knowledge about pharmaceutical sectors, health system, and drug policy in relation to national law are part of the knowledge of pharmacists as well. Social pharmacy gives knowledge and skills of drug dispensation and self-medication including good knowledge about OTC drugs. The basic algorithms for choice of particular OTC drug are included in curriculum of social pharmacy as well. Social pharmacy is integrated world wide into the curricula of pharmaceutical faculties, because it gives the students complex view on the relation of patient - society - drug and study a need and role of pharmacist as a particular experts in pharmacy world.
